Impulses for the foundation

Collège des Ingénieurs

For 40 years, the Franco-German educational institution Collège des Ingénieurs, based in Paris, Munich and Turin, has specialized in the further education of talented young engineers and scientists. The focus of the management training (MBA) is particularly on developing a holistic entrepreneurial spirit in young talents, strengthening their market-oriented perspective and preparing them for responsible leadership. Graduates of the Collège des Ingénieurs are therefore predestined for innovative companies.

The close exchange between theory and practice plays a special role at the Collège des Ingénieurs: CEOs and important political figures are guest speakers and lecturers. The Collège des Ingénieurs MBA program in Germany is fully funded by companies (corporations and SMEs). It represents a unique source of talent for the partner companies. The alumni have careers in a wide variety of well-known companies and therefore form a rich network.

Alumni

For 40 years, the alumni of the Collège des Ingénieurs have formed an excellent network of more than 4,000 alumni worldwide, including 1,500 in Germany. The majority are under 40 years old. They hold positions of responsibility in the European economy, prove themselves as junior managers in international corporations, can be found in management positions and are responsible for innovations as young managers. Some of them are successful company founders.

CDI Alumni Deutschland e. V. is an initiative with its own momentum, which consistently pursues the goals of the Collège des Ingenieurs and maintains and shapes the alumni network. The main focus is on technological/digital change and its impact on the German economy.

Leadership Statements

Leadership is attributed to a leader, it cannot be claimed. Leadership is achieved through the interplay of personality, ability and the individual gift of inspiring people for common goals and leading them personally and as a team to success. Leadership is not only important at the top of the company; qualified specialists and masters who live and breathe leadership are needed throughout the company. When this combination of a vibrant leadership culture is successful, companies are particularly capable of top performance in a competitive environment.

Leadership is to inspire, motivate and align people to do their best work in service of the customer and of mutual corporate values.

Disruptive technological change is becoming the greatest challenge for sustainable corporate management. Outstanding leadership is the prerequisite for sustainable success in Industry 4.0 and digitalization.

Engineers and scientists will take on more responsibility in the future. The Collège des Ingénieurs has been working closely with partners in companies for 30 years to make this as successful as possible, and this must be a European task.

Above all, leadership means orientation. In fast-moving times, it is important to lead through a complex world with a flexible management culture and firm principles at the same time."

Leadership is a question of attitude, values and, last but not least, heart formation. That is why leadership begins with oneself.

Meaning gives life depth and direction. Meaning turns a job into a passion and a vocation. In times of disruptive change, the meaning of one's work offers individuals the only certainty that they can confidently generate something new from it."

Leadership makes the difference when it comes to innovation.

We need to grow beyond the technical culture - which must nevertheless be very solid - in order to create something more fundamental in the personality.

A distinction must be made between "managing" and "leading". One is a craft, the other a question of attitude. Managing a company is more than just the use of time, the coordination of employees or the development of new markets. It involves an awareness of ownership, liability and responsibility. An attitude that combines ownership with responsibility towards society. An attitude from which the company itself draws strength to successfully assert itself on the market.

Today's employees increasingly want more individuality and involvement in the workplace. In order to be perceived as an attractive employer in the future, companies need to rethink their approach.

I firmly believe that leadership needs to become more direct and personal again, less technocratic, closer to people, closer to the business and closer to the customer.

No successful Industry 4.0 implementation without an enhanced management culture.
